Epiroc has chosen to partner with the Female Technical Engineer talent program run by recruitment firm CoGig with the aim of getting more women and non-binary people working in specialist technical roles and with technical innovation. It is a big challenge to both find and attract women and non-binary women to technical fields, and CoGig can contribute there via its network of female and non-binary engineers as well as talent programs and recruitment services.
Female Technical Engineer is a talent program for female and non-binary engineering students at the end of their degree, with the primary aim of inspiring more women and non-binary people to work in technology. The program is a unique meeting place for engineering students and Swedish business. Through an extensive program with, among other things, exclusive visits to the partner companies, the 40 selected participants gain a deeper understanding of the companies' operations and challenges, as well as the opportunity to discover the great variety of jobs available in technology.
"In addition to actively inspiring young people to choose technology in the future, we want to show tomorrow's talents the importance of the mines of the future to drive the green transition. When we now step into the partnership together with CoGig and the business community, we aim to jointly push the issue of gender equality in an industry that historically, and even today, is far from where we want to be. Our ability to set high goals linked to inclusion and diversity makes us extra ready to take on this challenge," says Sofia Bratt, R&D Manager Surface Division at Epiroc.
Epiroc joins the program with the already existing partner companies Atlas Copco, Alfa Laval, Boliden, Holmen, LKAB, Rejlers, Schneider Electric and Xylem. The companies represent a wide range but have in common that they all realize the importance of gender equality.
"Epiroc is warmly welcome to the program and I look forward to working together for more women in technical roles," says Lena Larsson, CEO at CoGig.
The next round of the program starts at the beginning of 2024 and ends with a gala in May when one of the participants is crowned the Female Technical Engineer of the year. Whoever is awarded the award is offered a personal development program via Anna Landegren and New Leadership.
