TIPS FOR YOUR NEXT INTERVIEW
Applying for a job can sometimes feel overwhelming, but with the right preparation, the process can be both smoother and more successful. By taking note of some important tips, you can increase your chances of standing out among other candidates and catching the employer's interest.
We recruit based on potential – not just based on formal requirements
We understand that long lists of requirements can feel daunting, especially for women who often want to fulfill every point before they dare to apply. Men, on the other hand, tend to submit their application even if they do not fulfill everything. At CoGig, we focus on your potential and see what you can achieve, not just what you've done in the past. We always encourage our customers to think the same way. So don't hesitate to apply, even if you don't check off every requirement – it's about daring to challenge yourself and grow together.
Come prepared for the interview
Going into an interview well prepared is not only about being able to answer questions, but also about understanding your own journey and your goals. Take time to reflect on your past experience – what have you learned? What challenges have you dealt with? And perhaps most importantly, what do you want to achieve in your next role? Having a clear picture of what you want going forward helps you set the right expectations and communicate your ambitions effectively.
Another important step is to think about what you want to get out of the interview. See the interview as a dialogue – not only an opportunity for the employer to get to know you, but also for you to get to know the company. Therefore, prepare some questions for the recruiter. Perhaps you are wondering about the company's culture, opportunities for further training or what is expected during the first months. By asking questions, you show both your commitment and that you care about finding a place where you can really thrive and develop.
Make a strong impression with the STAR model
Describing your experiences in a structured and clear way can be decisive for how you are perceived in a recruitment process. Here, the STAR model can help you stand out. It helps you concretize how you handled challenges and achieved results by breaking down your answer into four parts: Situation, Task, Action and Result. By using STAR, you show not only what you have done, but also how you did it and what the result was.
We encourage our candidates to use the STAR model in interviews – it helps you demonstrate your skills in a way that is easy to follow and understand. Let your potential shine through with clear, concrete examples!
