AFRY has chosen to become a partner company to the talent program Female Leader Engineer, which is run by the recruitment company CoGig with the aim of getting more women in leading positions in technology companies. The problematic situation of too few women in technology needs to change. The core of the problem is the challenges of both finding and attracting women, and CoGig can contribute there via its network of female engineers as well as talent programs and recruitment services.
Female Leader Engineer is a talent program for female engineering students at the end of their education, with the main aim of inspiring more women to work in technology in leading roles. The program is a unique meeting place for Swedish business and engineering students with leadership potential. Through an extensive program with, among other things, exclusive visits to the partner companies, the 25 selected participants gain a deeper understanding of the companies' operations and challenges, as well as the opportunity to discover the types of roles they can take on in the future.
"The supply of expertise is crucial for our profitability and to cope with the green transition, and for me the whole is what is important. From showing teenage girls in junior high school how fun it is with technology and engineering, to all employees at AFRY getting the same opportunities, regardless of gender, age and origin. We believe that through an increased focus on female leaders, we will speed up the general development in inclusion and diversity," says Sara Klingenborg, HR director at AFRY.
AFRY joins the program with the already existing partner companies Ericsson, Fortum, Kone, Sandvik, Scania, Skanska, SSAB, Sodexo and Stora Enso. The companies represent a wide range but have in common that they all highlight the importance of equality.
"AFRY is an excellent and welcome addition to the program and I look forward to contributing to more women in leading positions together," says Lena Larsson, CEO at CoGig.
The next round of the program will run in autumn 2023 and will end with a gala in November when one of the participants will be crowned this year's Female Leader Engineer. The participant who receives the award is offered a personal development program via Anna Landegren and New Leadership.
