SENIOR SOFTWARE TESTER - EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
Location: Kista, Stockholm (hybrid, on-site focus)
Company: Munters
About Munters
Munters is a global leader in energy-efficient air treatment and climate solutions, supporting customers in industries such as HVAC, industrial manufacturing, energy, and data centers. Our products are long-lived, safety-critical, and built to perform reliably in demanding environments.Quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement are core to how we work – both in our products and in our teams.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Tester (Embedded Systems) who will take clear ownership of quality, test strategy, and test automation for our embedded platforms and products.
This role is central to our ambition to move from largely manual testing to a more automated, scalable, and robust test approach, supporting frequent releases and long product life cycles. You will act as a quality driver across teams, contributing both hands-on and strategically.
This role suits someone who enjoys combining test automation, system thinking, and collaboration, and who is comfortable working in environments where firmware and hardware mean that mistakes can surface much later.
What You’ll Do
Drive test strategy, test planning, and quality assurance for embedded control systems.
Build and evolve test automation frameworks for embedded and hardware-near environments.
Plan and execute testing ahead of releases, including regression and lifecycle-relevant testing.
Act as a quality advocate – raising risks, setting expectations, and challenging teams when needed.
Design and improve test environments, tools, and workflows for embedded and firmware-based products.
Document findings clearly and follow issues through to resolution.
Experience & Skills
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Proven experience in test automation.
Experience working with QA/testing in embedded systems at some point in their career.
Understanding of firmware, product lifecycles, and release processes (embedded ≠ SaaS).
Experience with test planning for releases and regression cycles.
Professional working proficiency in English (Swedish is not required).
Nice to have (not required):
Experience building testability early in development or supporting developers in making code more automation-friendly.
Experience with hardware-near testing, HIL environments, or designing custom test setups and tools.
Background in industrial, IoT, telecom, or other long-lived embedded products.
How You Work
Comfortable setting clear quality expectations and raising concerns in a constructive way.
Improvement-driven and curious – you look for better ways of working and aren’t afraid to try new approaches.
Solution-oriented, with the confidence to ask for help and collaborate closely with others.
Structured communicator who documents findings clearly and drives follow-up actions.
Growth Opportunities
You don’t need experience at every test level from day one. What matters is deep expertise in at least one layer, combined with the ability and motivation to grow into others. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how quality and testability are built into a new generation of products, from early design through long-term maintenance.
Practical Information
Current setup includes one more junior tester – this role provides senior leadership in QA and testing.
Product releases currently occur monthly, with a goal of aligning platform releases at the same cadence – automation is key to making this sustainable.
Due to hardware and test environments, the role is typically on-site around 4 days per week.
Recruitment process: two steps (management interview + technical discussion with the team, who have the final say).
What We Offer
Competitive salary and bonus structure.
Collective agreement, pension, and insurance solutions.
Benefits portal, wellness allowance, and company car options.
The opportunity to work with complex, real-world products that make a tangible impact.
A collaborative, international environment where quality and long-term thinking are valued.
